We swiftly finished off some older pieces on Monday morning and moved on to wearable pieces. Moving forward, we will mainly be working with sterling silver.
Most of Monday was spent on measuring and rolling out the stock gauge. At first, I didn’t think it would be too tiring to flatten out the metal, but it was a sweltering 37°c day and the workshop felt like a sauna.
Luke introduced a couple of different ring bending tools to us on Tuesday and then we soldered our first piece of wearable silver jewellery.
This week’s wrap up:
• Cut a third copper triangle for the fit test
• Used a circle cutting tool my mom gave me in 2008
• Finished bookmark with emery and sandblasting
• Making rings from scratch using stock gauge
• Used rolling mills, both square and flat
• Used three different types of ring bending tools
• Used liquid auflux instead of borax
