To form the collet, I used a bezel block and arbor press to create the shape. The arbor press creates a mushroom shape at the top of the collet so I filed it back down to fit a 6mm stone.
After rounding up and soldering the metal to create the swage band, I used the rolling mill to flatten the metal. Essentially you need to roll it at an angle, alternating sides to extend the metal at the top. This increases the ring size by a lot, so I’ll have to resize it next week.
This week’s wrap up:
• Used bezel block, arbor press, rolling mill
• Tapered and filed the band so it’s wider at the bottom and slimmer at the top
