The colour of the wax indicates different hardness. Green is the hardest and is ideal for sharp edges and complex designs. Purple is medium, and blue is the softest with the most flexibility, but it's less good for intricate carvings.
The tool shop had different ones we could try so for this signet ring, I’m testing out the blue wax.
