15 - 17 May 2023

I soldered the tiny jump ring a little off centre on the bail. After gently aligning it with some flat nose pliers, I filed one side to make the bail even again. I then used Thermo-Loc to temporarily glue down the pendant, and used a nail pusher to set the stone. The thickness of the bezel made it quite hard to push in so I ended up using a hammer to speed up the process.

Finally, I cleaned up the dents by using a Shofu wheel and polished with Dialux Bleu. And my articulated oval pendant is born!

As for the square pendant, Luke advised that we create two L brackets instead of one long strip of bezel for an easier fit. I was having a little trouble soldering the base plate to the bezel, hopefully the fire scale won’t be too bad on this piece. Will finish making the bail and solder the whole piece together next week.

This week’s wrap up:

Used a nail pusher and got a demonstration on how to make one with a steel nail
Used Thermo-Loc
Used a micromotor to polish
